July’s Top Tips

Keep a keen eye out on your plants for pests, remember early treatment is best.  If you are having a problem with pests, bring in a small leaf sample etc into the garden centre and we will try and help diagnose the problem.

Cut back hardy Geraniums and Delphiniums after the first flush of flower to encourage new growth and blooms.

Take cuttings from your favourite tender plants for wintering indoors.

Now is a good time to spray ground elder, bindweed and other persistent weeds with a systemic weed killer.

Feed your tomato plants on a regular basis with Tomorite Tomato feed.

Pick, dry and then freeze your herbs so you have a nice supply over winter.

Pick your courgettes while they are still young, the more you pick the more you will get.

Keep you lawn dense, green and free from weeds and moss by feeding regularly with a complete weed, feed and moss kill, such as Westland Aftercut All In One.

Liquid feed your plants for best results with Miracle-Gro All Purpose.

Keep slugs away from your veg and tender flowers with barriers such as Copper slug tape, Slug Gone Wool pellets or pet friendly based slug killer.
